Trustee Visits Abroad

The preference is always for a Trustee to periodically travel to Africa as it helps to confirm that projects have taken place but also because it helps to promote relationships with Josephite collaborators and communities that SJAA suppport in Africa. However with increasing costs, difficulties of travelling in DR Congo and security concerns, more use is being made of advances in technology to communicate with collaborators in Africa.  Recently, the current Chairman was invited to meet a number of the African collaborators at Chapter in Belgium July 2022. Below are details of the visit.

DM gratefully accepted the invitation to Chapter (an end of term of office for a number in key roles on the Josephite General Council). Apart from meeting key officers from the General Council and collaborators from Africa the SJAA Chairman headteachers from St George's Weybridge (SGW), other school heads from Europe and also Chairman of Governors from SGW and the counterpart in Europe. In the current climate when travel to Africa is not advisable attandance at Chapter helped to setup direct relationships between the SJAA Chairman and African collaborators. The SJAA Chairman is now in regular contact with these collaborators in DR Congo. Fr Jean Marcel (Ilebo). Freddy Mabika (Domiongo) and Sunny (Kinshasa). Unfortunately it was not possible to meet Fr Roger (Cameroon) as his visa was not processed in time.
